The companions of Victoria Chapter No 1345 were faced with a dilemma when a number of their officers were not in attendance due to sickness or work commitments.
This called for desperate measures from the director of ceremonies Jonathan Wright to restructure the offices in preparation for receiving the principal guest Assistant to the Three Grand Principals David Randerson. David was accompanied by Eccles Group Chairman Dave Walmsley, and group secretary Patrick Walsh along with acting officers Alan Jones and group vice chairman Stuart Boyd.
Due to illness, first principal elect Judd Greenwood was unfit to take the chair last year but on this occasion, he returned to be installed along with second principal Alan Perks and third principal Amos Millington.
Acting installing first principal Gareth Price offered to stand in for Graham Halstead who was unable to attend.
All three principals were presented by Jonathan Wright. The readings to the three principals were read by Gareth Price and Hugh McGuire. The address to the three principals was given by Gareth Price and that to the officers was given by Jonathan Wright.
On conclusion of the ceremony, David rose to congratulate Judd and thanked him for occupying the chair once more. David also extended the greetings of the Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison. He also thanked the other officers for responding to the dilemma and ensuring that the ceremony took place thanks to the skills and direction of the director of ceremonies Jonathan Wright.
Judd had the pleasure of presenting David with a cheque for £150 made out to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity. David thanked the companions of Victoria chapter for their kind and generous donation from such a small chapter.
The chapter meeting was followed by an excellent festive board. David in response to the toast to the grand officers wished the chapter well for the forthcoming year and said that it is a happy chapter. He congratulated the officers who had stood in at late notice to ensure that the ceremony ran smoothly.
David went on to refer to the three ‘F’s’, Feature, Festival and Fun. This was the message to convey to the companions from Tony Harrison. David promoted the Talking Heads presentation and those companions should all be ambassadors to Freemasonry and that companions should encourage craft members to join the Royal Arch as a completion of the journey.
He also referred to the MCF 2021 Festival and that we should encourage all brethren to be proactive in promoting this important event in Freemasonry.
Finally, his message from Tony Harrison was to have fun and always wear a smile and spread the word to non-Masons about the enjoyment and friendship that we all share.
David concluded by thanking everyone for a wonderful evening of friendship and enjoyment.
