A warm and sunny evening at Scott’s Bistro in Kirkham was the perfect setting for the Lodge of Triumph No 1061 Summer Social. Scott’s Bistro is a small restaurant in the market town of Kirkham, Lancashire.

Scott’s Bistro has a menu comprising both traditional and modern British dishes, using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and an amazing variety of local cheeses and fresh fish from the famous nearby fishing town of Fleetwood.
Following a warm welcome to everyone by the organiser, past master of the lodge Ted Rhodes, he continued to thank all those who had kindly brought prizes for the raffle, which would be drawn later in the evening.
Most diners opted for three courses that included delightful starters of garlic prawns, chicken and Lytham gin pâté and soup, followed by sirloin steaks with a variety of sauces, sea bass, gammon, steak and kidney pie or vegetarian options. A varied sweet course included sticky toffee pudding, crème brûlée, tiramisu, sorbets and a range of ice cream flavours.
The atmosphere in Scott’s Bistro was buzzing with the sound of conversations and high spirits regarding holiday destinations and the preparations being made by some of the guests for the imminent start of the new Masonic season.
As the diners ploughed through their sweet course, John Topping and David Jenkinson sold raffle tickets around the room, which raised an impressive total of £90. The raffle was expertly undertaken and prizes were distributed efficiently around the long table of diners.
Towards the end of the evening, Ted Rhodes supervised the lodge’s lottery draw, which was drawn by Bistro owner Mark Scott. The first prize of £50 was won by Ted Rhodes and the second prize of £25 going to the lodge secretary, Will Buchanan. Ted reminded all in attendance that there are two lottery numbers yet to be sponsored and to contact him if interested in acquiring these numbers. The Lodge of Triumph lottery is approaching its first anniversary and is on course to raise profits of just under £2,000.

Ted Rhodes praised all in attendance for their generosity in raising £90, which will ultimately be distributed to Masonic and non-Masonic charities. He announced that due to the success of this event, there would be a repeat evening with a tapas and steak-themed night on Thursday, 25 September.
WM Mike Boxall stood and thanked everyone for their attendance and gave notice of the Christmas social to be held at the Bedford Hotel, St Annes-on-Sea, on Sunday, 23 November.
