A fine Tuesday night at The Park Club, Cleveleys, was the perfect evening for the Fylde light blues to hold the first of four scheduled presentations. Whilst primarily aimed at educating and enlightening the Fylde coast’s newest members to Freemasonry, it was a delight to welcome many well-established brethren to this first meeting.

The lecture was entitled ‘Darkness to Light’ and was expertly delivered by the renowned, Past Provincial Grand Mentor Stewart Cranage. Stewart skilfully led the attendees through the symbols and meanings of aspects of the ceremony of initiation. A wide range of questions then followed, to which Stewart responded with similar well-informed, factual answers that drew heavily on his detailed, historical knowledge of Freemasonry with its 300 years of history.
Ian Fell thanked Stewart for his delightful presentation, which, on conclusion, had received a rapturous round of applause. A well-presented buffet by Lee Williams Catering was a most appropriate way to complete a fine evening of Masonic fellowship and learning.
John Topping said he was certain that the South Fylde Group brethren comprising Peter Ivory, an entered apprentice of St Anne’s Lodge No 2457 and Ian Dewhurst, a fellow craft of Ansdell Lodge No 3607, were both very impressed with the lecture and they had learnt an enormous amount about the ceremony that they have both recently been guided through in their own lodges.
Secretary of Fylde Light Blues, Del Hernen, said that they would be thrilled if more light blue Masons and all other Fylde coast brethren could attend future Tuesday evening Fylde light blue events at the Park Club in Cleveleys.
Future planned events include an explanation of the Grand Lodge certificate by Mike Thistlethwaite. Another presentation from Stuart Carnage will give an explanation of the second degree ceremony and Past Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies Ryan Modlin will explain the role of director of ceremonies.
