Members of Walton Chapter No 1086 held their annual installation ceremony at Woolton Golf Club, but unfortunately due to illness the first principal Mark Broardfoot was unable to be at the meeting and at short notice Stephen Lynch stood in as first principal.
The three principals entered the chapter and opened proceedings in step with normal custom. The principals extended a warm and friendly welcome to all the guests in attendance for kindly supporting the chapter. With the initial business of the chapter thus conducted the members and visitors were pleased to receive William Culshaw, Past Provincial Grand Standard Bearer, Woolton Group Chairman and Provincial Grand Standard Bearer Andrew Whittle and group secretary Mike Cunliffe.
William Culshaw was extended a very warm welcome by the three principles. The ceremony of installation then commenced and David Jones was honoured to take the third principal’s chair, Norman Davies that of the second principal and Stephen Lynch remained in the first principal’s chair. Alan Atkinson was installed as first principal, Paul McLachlan was elevated to second principal and Barry Harnick was installed as third principal, after which they invested there officers for the coming year.
The scripture readings for the three principals were given by Walter Balmer, Andrew Whittle and Vincent Tuzio respectively. The robe addresses were performed to a high standard by Stephen Lynch for the red, Alan Atkinson the purple and Paul McLachlan the blue. Eric Palfreyman gave the address to the three principals and Harold Thacker gave the address to the officers of the chapter.
On the conclusion of the ceremony, William Culshaw expressed the best wishes on behalf of the Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison to the three principals. William was then presented with a cheque for £150 on behalf of the chapter companions to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity. The remaining business of the chapter was completed the chapter was then closed and all retired to the festive board.
