Putting on the Ritz at Hindley

You may have had to take a second look recently to make sure you were at Hindley Masonic Hall and not the world famous London hotel, as the management committee and their wives organised and hosted a special champagne afternoon tea to help raise funds for the Hall.

Loosely based on the quintessential Ritz cafe gourmet afternoon tea event with sandwiches, scones with jam and cream were prepared by the committee and their wives, who also baked and donated a wide selection of enticing culinary delightful cakes to be served for the enjoyment of all their guests.

A glass of fine sparkling champagne was served on arrival and continued to flow throughout the afternoon. The event was attended by over 75 of the brethren, family and friends and a delightful gastronomic afternoon was enjoyed by everyone.

Proceeds from the tea, the tombola and a cake sale raised a magnificent sum of £630 for hall funds. As an added nice touch, at the end of the afternoon, such was the generosity of the organisers and contributors, that the residents of the local Hospice were treated to an enjoyable supper.
