A delegation of Preston Masons were proud to take part in this years Civic Remembrance Parade at Preston City Centre. A dozen Masons mustered and formed part of the parade from the Market Hall to the Flag Market and back to honour those who made the Supreme Sacrifice over the many wars.
Preston Masons involvement is led by the brethren of Lodge of Endeavour No 7036 who co-ordinate other Masons of lodges and other Masonic Orders within the Preston Group to take part. There were representatives from four Preston lodges and other Masonic Orders, and the Preston Group Vice Chairman David Parker was there to give his support.
Carl Powell, from Lodge of Endeavour, took his place in the official wreath party within the parade alongside other local organisations and societies. The wreath party marshall was another Mason, Mick Nutter. The rest of the Masons formed up in the main body of the parade either as veterans or behind that part of the parade.
After the Mayor of Preston, Councillor Yakub Patel, and other civic dignitaries had laid their wreaths, Carl was first out of the wreath party to step forward and lay his wreath. It was a real step forward for Freemasons in Preston to be seen as a key part of the Remembrance Ceremony.
