Michelle’s fabulous evening at the Lothersdale

Runic Lodge No 6019 held a very successful evening to celebrate ‘The Ladies’ at the splendid Lothersdale Hotel in Morecambe. The master Ken Needham and principal guest, his wife Michelle, welcomed fellow Masons, family and friends to their special evening, before enjoying a superb banquet which had been sourced to represent as much local produce as possible.

The essential formalities of the evening were handled by the director of ceremonies John Heaton, who in his inimitable style, ensured that the evening went without a hitch. The traditional toast to the ladies was proposed with sincerity and humour by the junior warden of the lodge Alan Herron, before George Fox, accompanied by David Tattersall gave a fabulous rendition of the ladies’ song. In her response to the ladies’ toast, Michelle thanked everyone for their support as well as the people who helped her organise the evening and make it such a success.

A lovely added touch was the presentation of an exquisite handmade silver brooch by John Heaton on behalf of Runic Lodge, as a token of their appreciation. Presentations were also made of a large number of floral gifts to the partners of those who had played a major part in the success of the evening.

Over £300 was raised by the evenings raffles and following a fabulous evening of entertainment from ‘Tommy J and the Midnights’, guests retired at the ‘midnight hour’, or at least most did, as it was rumoured some guests were still in the venue well into the early hours of the morning.
