Keeping it in the family

The brethren of Lodge of Truth No 6235 welcomed their latest master, Simon Isherwood at their installation ceremony. The well versed Masonic edict Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth were all on display.

WM Simon Isherwood congratulated by Tony Bent

Simon was initiated into the lodge of Truth by his bother Nigel Isherwood some years ago and in keeping with the theme, he was installed into the chair of King Solomon again by Nigel in a most excellent and admirable fashion.

Assistant Provincial Grand Master Tony Bent congratulated Nigel on the manner in which he had conducted the ceremony and made reference as to what a proud moment it must be for both brothers which was acknowledged by all present.

Later at the festival of St John, an element of more brotherly love and even more truth were evidenced by Nigel in his toast to the worshipful master, when he didn’t let the opportunity pass by to reveal a few facts from their childhood. This amused the assembled brethren and added an excellent touch to the proceedings.

Simon was far kinder in his response and in the best traditions of Freemasonry chose not to reveal any secrets about his brother; well not too many!

The ladies of the Lodge of Truth traditionally dine out on the installation night and this was no exception. The master’s wife Cathy hosted a celebration meal at the Robin Hood Restaurant in Lowton where she was joined by family, friends and the wives and partners of other masters, group officers and members of the lodge.

Cathy decided it was a great opportunity to begin her year as the principle lady by raising money for charity and was delighted that together they raised £130 on the night for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

The money was raised from a raffle which was supported with prizes kindly donated by local businesses Bents Garden Centre, Sweet Little Things Tea Room, Bartley Studios and both Sainsbury’s and Morrisons Supermarkets.
