The installation meeting of Dalton in Furness Chapter No 6828 saw John Houlding install Keith Templeton as first principal in his place.
During his year as first principal John has proved to be an excellent ambassador for his chapter in clocking up frequent visits to other chapters in the Furness and South Lakeland group. His efforts on behalf of the chapter were acknowledged by Rowley Saunders, who was representing the Grand Superintendent, and also by group chairman Alan Jones.
It is not the first time Keith has occupied the main chair of a chapter as he is a past first principal of Henry Cook Chapter No 1021 in Barrow in Furness.
Geoff Waters moved up from third to second principal with Frank Pearson coming in as third principal. Both Geoff and Frank are experienced hands with the pair having already ascended to the chair of first principal on two occasions.
With junior companions filling the other progressive offices in the chapter, at least one candidate for exaltation, and two members re-joining the chapter it is hoped that this year will prove to be the last that requires past first principals ascending to the chairs again.
Adding their weight to the occasion were three acting Provincial officers. Assistant director of ceremonies John Torrance was accompanied by two stewards in the persons of David Smith and Alan Procter.
Director of ceremonies Ken Parkinson ensured that although the ceremony may have been short it was nonetheless carried out with great precision and dignity, no more so than in the robe and sceptre addresses by John Houlding, Keith and Geoff.
The West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity was the beneficiary of a cheque for £350 presented to Rowley.
Following the ceremonial part of the evening 55 members and guests enjoyed the installation banquet.
