The members of South Eastern Group and their families and friends gathered together at the Grange Club in Edgeley in memory of Peter Beswick a favourite, well-loved Mason who moved to the Grand Lodge above.

Amongst many other things, Peter initiated and ran the annual trip to York and the highlight of those trips was Peter’s Saturday Night Quiz! Thus, the group thought that nothing would be more fitting than to try and replicate this in his honour and to raise some money for his favourite charities.
The evening was compered by South Eastern Group Charity Steward Darren Gregory and attempting to fill Peter’s large shoes as quiz master was South Eastern Group Publicity Officer Ian Wood. The competitors divided themselves into (approximately) even numbered teams with Peter’s wife Helen and family composing one of them and the remaining brethren and their wives and families another four. The quiz comprised three rounds with 20 questions per round featuring a picture round, music round and general knowledge.
Following the first two rounds of the quiz, a buffet was served followed by a raffle which was very well supported, there then followed the final round of the quiz which was the general knowledge. Despite the usual complaints regarding the clarity of the pictures, distinct lack of knowledge regarding modern pop music and other excuses, the scores were ultimately very creditable with the winning team amassing a total of 51 points!
The evening proceeded in a most enjoyable fashion and all those present had a great time with the evening being rounded off with Darren presenting Helen with a bouquet of flowers and a sum of £420 being collected for charity, an exceptional effort which pleased all present and would surely have made Peter exceptionally happy!
