Frank calls it a day

Leigh Masonic Hall Ltd has a new chairman in the form of Brian Britain who is a member of Atherton Lodge No 4488.

At the age of 92 Frank has been chairman of the Leigh Masonic hall for 24 years and has been a member of the board of directors for 43 years.

Born in Nottingham, he moved to Leigh aged 12 and later trained as an engineer. In the 1939 – 45 war, he was enlisted into the RAF and saw active service in the Far East.

Following his return to civilian life, Frank became a well known and respected businessman in the Leigh area where he established an engineering company. He joined Masonry in 1962 when he was initiated into Valour Lodge No 4322.

In addition to Masonry he is actively involved in Rotary and is Chair of the Leigh Abbeyfield Society. In 2005 he was awarded the MBE for services to the community and shortly afterwards he received a Royal Patrons award from HRH Prince Charles patron of Abbeyfields Society.
