Endeavour initiates its latest candidate

At an extra meeting for the members of Lodge of Endeavour No 7036, their latest candidate was initiated into the lodge. As this was an extra meeting held under a dispensation granted by the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison, the business of the meeting was restricted to the initiation ceremony. The meeting was supported by the presence of the Preston Group Chairman Steve Bolton.

Calling the brethren to order, the meeting duly opened by the master of the lodge Phil Daniels. The candidate, Jordan Jones, was admitted into the lodge and initiated into Freemasonry as a member.

The ceremony was performed by Phil Daniels, senior warden David Grime and past master Stuart Simpson, with Jordan being guided through the ceremony by Carl Walkden. The various explanations introduced as part of the ceremony were given by John Bristow, Alan Howarth and Daniel Howe.

Now a member of the Masonic community, Jordan listened to a presentation of the ‘First Degree Charge,’ given in full by the junior warden Ron Docherty. To aid understanding of the work within the lodge, Jordan was presented with a copy of the lodge development pack prepared by Michael Walkden. The pack contained extracts from the ceremony and an explanation of lodge procedures.

The ceremony concluded with a presentation by Steve Bolton, who welcomed Jordan as the newest member of the lodge and more particularly, as the newest member of the Preston Group. He presented him with a welcome pack from the group and wished him well in his new Masonic journey. Steve also took the opportunity to congratulate all the lodge members for their excellent work during the ceremony.

As usual, after the meeting, everyone enjoyed an excellent meal and jovial company in the dining room. All those present took the opportunity to wish Jordan well as this year’s 4th new member just starting his Masonic career within the lodge. Jordan’s initial interest in Freemasonry was kindled by a visit to the traditional Masonic Remembrance Service meeting to which non-Masons and their partners were invited as guests of lodge members.
