The Association of the Friends of Ecclesholme held their annual dinner, an event which is traditionally hosted alternatively in the Provinces of East and West Lancashire. On this occasion, the dinner returned to its inaugural home, care of the Leigh Masonic Hall.
The original concept of an annual dinner was conceived by local Mason Jim Sims from the Leigh Group, in consultation with the then chairman of the group Tony Bent and has since been an unmitigated success, raising many £1,000s for the benefit of the residents of the home.
Principal guests on the night were Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison together with his wife Maureen. The Leigh Group Chairman Len Hart gave a welcome speech, after which over 100 Masons, their wives and partners enjoyed a delicious seven course meal. At the end of the meal, Tony Bent related a potted history of Ecclesholme, since its inception in 1977 to the present day. Proceeds on the night raised the magnificent sum of over £2,000.
