The companions of Holy Royal Architect Chapter No 314 were delighted and honoured to lead the celebration of 60 years in the Royal Arch for Donald (Don) Kennedy Richardson. This was supported by a strong Provincial team, led by Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Paul Hesketh.
Paul presented his ‘This is Your Life’ and explained the rich tapestry of Don’s Masonic career and history. The foundations were firmly laid by Don’s father for both his Craft and Royal Arch life and guided him through a route of many different lodges and chapters. This is a policy that Don is following as he has done the same to his son-in-law, Hal Hamer.
Don is well loved in the Preston Group and is the veritable font of all Masonic knowledge. No one can talk to Don for more than five minutes and not have taken a daily advancement in Freemasonry. His lectures to the Craft and chapter are spellbinding and despite attempts to take a back seat, the ‘call of the stage’ remains strong.
After an excellent 60th celebration, there was no sitting back as Don immediately took up a sojourner’s chair as the chapter exalted Paul Street from Longridge Lodge No 8077. Paul was given a ceremony that will stand in his memory forever and 60 years on Don still delivers excellent ritual.
A lively and enjoyable festive board followed by Don’s son-in-law Hal, who he is very close to, gave a moving tribute to Don and having heard the ‘This is Your Life’ story, he understood totally what Don had done to him over the years.
Not to forget Paul, who was honoured to be exalted on such an auspicious night in to the Royal Arch and to have such a luminary pivotal role in the ceremony.
