The Rivington Bowling Club on Horrobin Lane in Horwich became base camp for the annual Chorley Group walk, which was hosted and marshalled by Paul Snape and Alan Hurst. Group members gathered together in anticipation on an increasingly busy car park before setting off in clear and sunny conditions.

The walk, which had been advertised as an easy amble of just less than three miles, appeared to have been loosely based on the SAS course at Hereford and took in tree lined avenues, lake side views and rolling fields, with some of the best views in Lancashire.

Paul and Alan had done their homework and mapped out a varied route which was suitable for people of all ages and their pets, as several of our canine friends also participated.

The bowling club was also the finishing line and at which a variety of refreshments were available. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all who participated and was made all the better by good companionship and fine weather.

A lovely afternoon.
