Once again, the Southport Group Golf Day was held at Southport Old Links Golf Club. It was established over 50 years ago and this event has been held at the venue for the last 19 years.

It was organised by Trevor Vearncombe and his committee who once again did a great job also ensuring that the weather stayed sunny and dry for the 20 brethren and guests who registered to play.
The turnout was down a little on last year, it could be that the competition needs a bit more publicity, or maybe it is a sign of the times, but Trevor said that at least 10 people who he expected to play couldn’t for various reasons.
After the competition, a very splendid meal was enjoyed by all. The prize presentation followed and the prizes were presented by Assistant Provincial Grand Master Frank Umbers who is the president of the society.
The main prize, the Wallwork Cup was won by Graham Henshaw and he showed his delight in a short speech. Trevor Vearncombe won the Harry Doughty Scratch Trophy; Mike Mullen was presented with the Veterans Trophy and the Chapter Trophy was won by Maurice Evans. Maurice Evans and Mike Mullen also won the team event on behalf of Southport Lodge No 4034.
As the evening came to an end it was announced that thanks to everyone support a total of over £400 was raised for charities.
