At the grand age of 87, Allan Scott stepped up to take the chair as first principal of Earl of Lathom Chapter No 730. Allan celebrated his 50th anniversary in Royal Arch in April 2023 and obviously planned to end the year on another high as he’s worked his way back through the principal chairs for another time.
In a well-attended conclave, with 41 companions present, Allan was installed by Ray Thain in fantastic style, with Bill Nelson then being installed as second principal by Allan. This was followed by Bill Nelson installing George Askins as third principal.
The address given to the new principals was given by Walter Ashton and to the officers by Alan Farrington, both presenting their addresses with great skill and understanding of the ritual. David Harrison, Past Assistant Grand Sojourner, as the representative to the Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews, stood to give the address to the companions of Earl of Lathom Chapter and did a superb job for everyone to enjoy.
During the installation, David Harrison, was pleased to accept cheques from Earl of Lathom Chapter to; Angels of Life, West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity, Chorley Masonic Hall and Genesis. Dave thanked the companions of Earl of Lathom Chapter for their generous donations.
Also in attendance at the installation convocation were the group vice chairman David Bishop and grand officers Tom Jackson and Denis Onslow.
As the installation came to an end, the companions and guests were invited to join the three principals downstairs for a wonderful festive board. The whole evening was one to remember, with excellent ritual, good company and the warmest of welcomes to the guests.
