Brethren Tyldesley Lodge No 2572 have passed Carl Rothwell to the degree of a fellow craft. Tyldesley Lodge annually host a past masters’ month; therefore, the current WM was given the night off and sat back to enjoy the ceremony with all the guests.
Derek Bond occupied the WM’s chair and delivered an astonishing ceremony for our young fellow craft. All main positions within the lodge were occupied by different past masters. The acting DC on the night, Barrie Hughes, made sure everyone was ready to deliver their best.
Carl equally performed brilliantly giving the answers to the questions which was clearly well rehearsed. During the ceremony he was conducted round the lodge by two past masters Duncan Hopkins and Jonathan Battersby both of which were in top form.
Tyldesley was also granted an audience by the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews who witnessed the ceremony. Mark responded upstairs in the lodge room on how well the ceremony went and how much he enjoyed the ceremony. There was a total of 72 brethren who attended which was a Tyldesley first, breaking the previous attendance record.
Downstairs at the social board, it was a most enjoyable evening with a Masonic raffle which raised £390. The meal was 4 courses supplied by Brookfield Hall, which was one of the best meals that the hall has ever done. Carl sat next to his father Ian Rothwell on the night and engaged in conversation with other junior brethren looking forward to their third degree. The night ended by Carl presenting flowers and a gift to Mark on behalf of Tyldesley Lodge by which point and many glasses of wine later, all retired to a fantastic evening.
