An extra special evening was had at Ridgmont House for Nasser Hussain who was exalted into the Royal Arch and witnessed by 40 companions, including one very special guest. Horwich Chapter No 2324 had the pleasure of welcoming the Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews to their chapter and they put on a splendid ceremony for all to enjoy.
Nasser was exalted into Royal Arch by his Horwich companions; first principal Derek Robinson, second principal Roger Sherlock, third principal Bryn Hart and other officers of the chapter, who each showcased a wonderful display of ritual, sharing with him an experience he will never forget.
Joining the Royal Arch is considered the next step of the journey into Freemasonry, after completing the third degree as a master Mason. The exaltation ceremony is as memorable as the initiation ceremony.
The evening was directed by Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies Gary Smith, who ensured the evening went smoothly for all present. Accompanying Mark Matthews was Third Provincial Grand Principal Dave Barr, Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Paul Hesketh and other grand and acting Provincial officers.
Dave Bishop, the Vice Chairman of Chorley and Leyland Group was also in attendance and joined everyone at the festive board following the meeting. The festive board was a vibrant event with a delightful meal, drinks, and friendly conversation with over £200 being raised for charity from the festive board raffle.
Mark Matthews stood to respond to the toast to his health and commented on how much he had enjoyed the proceedings of the evening and congratulated all involved in the fantastic ceremony. He also extended those congratulations to companion Hussain and wished him all the best, hoping that he would have many happy years at Horwich Chapter as a Royal Arch Freemason.
The evening ended and everyone went home having enjoyed a splendid meeting and festive board at Ridgmont House.
