On opening the chapter, acting first principal Russell Green welcomed all the visitors who had travelled far and wide to attend the evening – with one visitor even making the journey from Sweden!

Russell went on to install John Dowsett as first principal with John installing Duncan Hopkins as second principal. Duncan, in turn, then installed Ken Morris as third principal.

The address to the principals was perfectly given by Alex Prescott, that to the officers by Gilbert Pierce in his inimitable way, and that to the companions by Tony Hall with sincerity and joy. Robe addresses were given by Derek English (first principal), Mike Greenhalgh (second principal) and Peter Hannis (third principal). Paul Spann delivered both the scripture readings and prayers in an excellent manner.

John presented Tony with cheques totalling £450 comprising of £400 for the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival and £50 for Firwood School.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the companions retired in garrulous mood to enjoy a fine festive board and good companionship as the evening drew to a close. A most excellent end to a most excellent evening!
