St Helens Masonic Hall was the venue for the Lodge of St George No 6048 to initiate Timothy O’Hanlon and Mathew Taylor. The lodge opened by the WM Jon Holden in due form and as this was a special meeting, lodge secretary Jim Baker read the dispensation, after which the ceremony could begin.

Jon Holden asked David Rigby if he would assist the lodge by taking the chair of King Solomon for the ceremony of initiation, Dave accepted with pleasure. The inner guard reported that the first of the candidates, Timothy O’Hanlon was properly prepared and ready to be initiated into Freemasonry.
After entering the temple, Timothy was presented to the Dave who conducted the ceremony in his usual impeccable manner. Acting junior deacon Paul Brunskill and senior deacon Rob Neilson carried out their work with fortitude and diligence.
When Timothy retired from the lodge to restore himself to his personal comforts, Mathew Taylor entered the lodge and the ceremony was repeated for the benefit of Mathew.
On completion, our new made brothers were placed before Jim Baker who presented the charge after initiation, which he did in an impeccable manner. The working tools were presented in fine style by Maximo Velasco.
At the festive board, both Timothy and Mathew expressed their delight at finally becoming Freemasons and members of Lodge of St George and thanked Richard Wootton for his faith in proposing them. A raffle was held and the princely sum of £100 was raised for charity.
