A double diamond works wonders

Having already celebrated 60 years as a Freemason, Harry Wilkinson and his wife Joan have now celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Harry was initiated into Wyreside Lodge No 2605 in November 1951 and became master in 1965. His service to Freemasonry was rewarded in 1972 when he was appointed to Provincial Grand Lodge with the rank of Past Provincial Junior Grand Deacon and he was subsequently promoted to Past Provincial Grand Superintendent of Works. In January 2006 the lodge recognised Harry’s many years of service by electing him an honorary member.

To mark the couple’s magnificent achievement WM David Wright together with lodge almoner Jack Stackhouse, who has always kept in contact and visited the couple, travelled to Guys Nursing Home in Fleetwood to present Harry and Joan with flowers and cards of congratulation. David and Jack were also joined by lodge members Bill Wilkinson, David Ainsworth and Stan Naylor who all knew Harry when he was still able to attend the lodge.

The brethren were made very welcome and greatly admired a beautiful card which Harry and Joan had received from the Queen.
