Companions of Saturnian Chapter No 7563 of the North Fylde Group are actively promoting themselves across the Fylde Coast as a busy socialising chapter; to give it a unique selling point, different to others in the area, so as to attract joining and prospective new Royal Arch members.

As a part of this drive, Saturnian Chapter’s first principal Shaun Haynes and the second principal Steve Willingham, discussed the prospect of holding a joint Sunday lunch with members of their chapter and other local Masons from the group to a Sunday lunch social. The lunch was held at Stanley Park Golf Club, with 24 guests attending.
Shaun Haynes said: “The joining of the chapter with other local Masons in a social event has enabled the chapter to promote itself to potential members and has enabled the chapter to hold a social event that it could not easily fill on our own. The event was a total success and the same event has already been booked into the calendar for next year. It’s great to be able to socialise with Masons that we wouldn’t usually meet and to get to know them and their partners.”
The Sunday lunch also raised well-needed funds for a local charity entitled Fylde Kids Foundation. In promoting the charity, Shaun said that as someone with over 25 years involvement in the teaching profession, including a period of time teaching children who live in the third most deprived area of Britain, he is only too familiar with children who lack essentials that many of us could not imagine not having.
For Shaun, this area of charitable support will sadly be needed by more families in the future and it’s important to give our support if we can to enable others to enjoy the things we take for granted. These include such items as pens, pencils, school uniform and other equipment to help them in their studies and to look smart at school.

Staff of Fylde Kids Foundation have clearly understood from the data it has collected that young people’s lives are being affected by hardship. We, as Freemasons, are delighted to be able to give them this contribution to their important work in helping children build positive futures. Tom and his team at Fylde Kids Foundation do excellent work in the community, by providing these basic school items as well as a range of household basics to improve the lives of families and children in particular.
This is the second time Saturnian Chapter has been able to support Fylde Kids Foundation and the third time Shaun has been involved with a donation as his Craft lodges have also supported them. Shaun urged other lodges and chapters to consider this Fylde Kids Foundation charity as one worthy of continued support alongside those crucial food bank donations. Saturnian Chapter will be holding a ladies evening for the first time in many years at North Shore Golf Club in Blackpool and the chapter looks forward to welcoming Freemasons with their friends and families to this special social event.
