In April 2025, the Ormskirk and Bootle Group Chairman Graham Chambers, Regional Charity Steward Malcolm Sandywell and the Ormskirk and Bootle Group Crown Green Bowls representative Ian Tupling presented a cheque for £500 to Ash Halligan-Giles and Sister Louise Gray at Queenscourt Hospice in Southport.

The donation was part of the money raised during 2024 by the West Lancashire Masonic Charity Bowling Tournament, both through the generous lodge and chapter donations and various efforts made on the day of the Provincial tournament which was held in July at Fox Lane Social Club in Leyland.
It was decided at the Tournament Committees AGM held at the Provincial Office in November, that the charity money would be divided throughout the Province to be donated specifically to various hospices. Queenscourt Hospice was selected by our group after consultation with the group chairman.
Queenscourt Hospice has existed since 1992 and is situated in the Kew district of Southport. It is open to patients from the Southport, Formby and West Lancashire areas. Ash Halligan-Giles, who welcomed the trio so warmly and explained how grateful Queenscourt Hospice was for such donations as, like many hospices, they were experiencing many constraints in their attempts to secure sufficient funding to support the high level of palliative nursing care and family support it is their desire to provide.
So, thank you brethren. Your generosity is greatly appreciated not only by the group chairman but also by the Provincial Crown Green Bowling Group. If any brother who has never played or had the opportunity to try crown green bowls and wishes to try this game of relaxed physical exercise and skill, you can contact Ian Tupling by email at ian.tupling3@gmail.com and he will most willingly organise for you to ‘Have a go’.
