Two of the kindest unsung heroes in Southport are the Southport Group Community Engagement Officer Eddie Thompson and Southport Foodbank Coordinator Alan Cornes. They also selflessly give much of their own time, bringing much needed support to those in need.

As well as helping out considerably at the hall they put significant work into linking Masonic funds to charities in the local community, including giving up many of their weekends to help the foodbanks. They have also become something of a regular sight at Easter time when they seek to bring smiles to as many children as possible.
Easter 2025, they teamed up yet again to deliver over 400 Easter eggs to schools in the Southport area. Eddie was even able to arrange for his friend the Easter bunny to accompany them, in order to give the children an extra special occasion. Together they visited a range of schools and locations, not just delivering a huge volume of eggs, but also spending the time to bring smiles to children wherever they went. The Easter bunny even took a walk with some of the pupils of Merefield School, who were showing off their Easter bonnets as they collected Easter eggs to donate to Sefton Community Pantry.

Clearly the Easter bunny loves visiting Southport, and the children he meets there, as he keeps coming back year on year. Thanks, are of course due to Eddie and Alan for the huge effort they make in ensuring there are plenty of eggs for the Easter bunny to distribute, and for ensuring every child gets the extra special attention they deserve.
