The lodges and chapters in the South Fylde Group were once again able to offer their widows a treat of afternoon teas. Each almoner was asked to invite their widows to attend Booth’s Cafes situated in their stores in St Anne’s and Poulton-le-Fylde.

This event has been running for a few years now. It is always very popular, not just for the food, but it allows the widows the opportunity to catch up on their friendship with the other ladies. 30 ladies attended and enjoyed a selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones with jam and cream. Pots of tea and a variety of coffees were also readily available.
The ladies were welcomed to each venue by the South Fylde Group Care Officer Graham Smith and during each afternoon he was joined by some of the lodge almoners including Tim Walton, Dave Clarke and Kevin Burn, who enjoyed chatting with the widows. Grand officers David Barr and John Robbie Porter also came along to support the event.
As the ladies were leaving, they were delighted to receive either a tin of biscuits or a box of chocolates to enjoy when they got home, a sweet treat, which served as a reminder of the day they had shared filled with laughter and enjoyment.
