Widnes Masonic Hall, Kingsway was the venue for the proclamation of the three principals at Widnes Chapter No 2819. The chapter companions were honoured by the presence of Ian Stirling as their principal guest.

The chapter was opened by the three principals in due form, after which the next item was to ballot for Kevin Morton and Mick George as joining members. The ballot having proved successful both companions were admitted and took their places in the temple.
Having completed its initial business of the chapter, the companions were pleased to receive Ian Stirling, the representative of Grand Superintendent Mark Matthews. Ian was accompanied by grand officers, Tony Tallon, Mersey Valley Group Chairman Dave Atkinson and vice chairman John Gibbon.
Next item was to install the three principals for the year. As there were no other nominations, the existing three principals were proclaimed as the three principals for the ensuing year. First principal Andy Pope, second principal Gerry Gibbons and David Jameson as third principal, all under the guidance of director of ceremonies Brian Horabin.
Having appointed and invested the officers of the chapter, the first principal Andy Pope presented a cheque to Ian Stirling for £200 as a donation for the West Lancs Freemasons’ Charity. The donation was greatly received by Ian for which he thanked the companions of the chapter. The remaining business of the chapter was completed and the companions then retired to enjoy the festive board.
