Early in 2025, brethren of the Furness and South Lakeland Group held another of their very popular annual charity boxing evenings, the 39th such event since its inception way back in 1986.

The 2025 event raised a magnificent amount of over £10,000. This takes the total raised over the many years to over £300,000. All the funds raised are distributed to Masonic and non-Masonic charities. With the money raised at the event in 2025, 21 charities have received donations.
This money was distributed to commendable causes at a presentation evening held at Fairfield Masonic Hall in Barrow. Furness and South Lakeland Boxing Committee Chairman Dan Greaves welcomed everyone and, in his speech, thanked the boxing committee secretary Keiron Mullan, the treasurer Graham Benson and the event compere Richard Wilcock, as well as all the clubs who provided the contestants, the event stewards, referees and everyone who bought a ticket.
Dan handed over the floor to Jeff Moses and his team from Boxability who gave a short and very well received live demonstration of the work they do. Following this, the cheque awarded to each charity was presented to each of the representatives from the various chosen charities.

On the list of chosen charities were: Furness Catholic Amateur Boxing Club, Grange Primary School, Furness Rovers Football Club, George Hastwell School, Youthability Youth Services, West Mount Lawn Tennis and Bowling Club, Coniston Mountain Rescue, Friends of Burlington School, Furness Riding for the Disabled Association, The Croft Care Trust, Drop Zone Youth Projects, Wilson Shepards Fund Raising Pot, Friends of Low Furness C of E Primary School, South Cumbria Dyslexia Association, Ulverston Inshore Rescue, Mill Lane Centre Amenities Fund, Dalton and Ireleth with Askam Parish Church Council, Barrow Amateur Boxing Club, Kendal Amateur Boxing Club, Furness First Aiders, Space to Create, lodges within the Furness and South Lakeland Group and West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity.
The evening concluded with a delightful buffet supplied from Carlos Catering which gave a welcomed opportunity to have a talk with the recipients and enjoy the company of all those present at this 39th charity giving event.
