The light blue officers of West Lancashire Lodge No 1403 completed the challenge of a triple initiation ceremony only a month after they had taken office, and a most resounding success it was. The WM, Gavin Daw, successfully led his new team of; Barrie Gabbott senior warden, Peter Tierney junior warden, Gary McGowan senior deacon, Adrian Czarnobay junior deacon, assisted by Greg Jones as the third deacon, and Peter Dunn inner guard.

It must be noted, the relatively inexperienced team did a splendid job despite only being a month into office, stepping impressively up to the challenge and doing a proud job for the candidates. The three candidates Tony McManamon, Robbie Foulkes and Tony Berry, were shown an exceptional display of Freemasonry that no doubt they will seek themselves to emulate in coming years.
The ceremony was rounded off by Chris Wright with a ‘silver matchbox’ rendition of the Charge, putting the shine on an already exceptional display. Thanks are due to Jamie Brady in his first outing as director of ceremonies, and long may this excellent lodge continue to set an example to others with their hard work and can-do attitude.
At the festive board which followed, brethren of the lodge showed the new initiates the fraternal spirit for which West Lancashire Lodge is renowned for, being a relaxing and most enjoyable event. The initiates were treated to the Entered Apprentice Song, rendered in fine voice by the non-inconsiderable talents of Hugh Mett.
With the song completed, it was followed by the Chain of Friendship and the poem, ‘The Night of my Initiation’. The long traditions of West Lancashire Lodge continue to deliver success and incredible evenings for their candidates, and with this team of light blues, the future is very bright indeed.
