Set in picturesque grounds in Great Crosby, The Tithebarn care home is a hospice proving residential care and residential dementia support for a number of residents. Opened by the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (now RMBI Care Co) in 1977, The Tithebarn caters not just for older Masons and their families but the wider community.

RMBI Care Co believes strongly that everyone should have the opportunity to lead positive, active and fulfilling lives, especially those that are in need, disadvantaged or marginalised. It aims to embed caring as a way of life across 17 care homes of which The Tithebarn is just one.
The Tithebarn held an open day for friends and supporters, which was on a spring day and was blessed with glorious weather. The day was an opportunity for people with an interest in the hospice to visit, have a guided tour in small groups and meet the residents. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming with everyone enjoying tea and coffee alongside the excellent addition of delicious home-made scones and jam by the Chairman of the Friends of The Tithebarn Graham Chambers and his wife Ann. There was some extremely lively debate surrounding jam or cream first on the scones, a question which is yet to be resolved.
Popular Southport Mason Alister Sainter and his wife Gillian took the opportunity to present their annual £750 donation in person to Graham Chambers. The money is raised through the work of Southport Regalia, which was started by Alan and Jessica Sainter and now continued by their son Alister and his wife. Southport Regalia has, as a result of their hard work, become a bastion of charitable giving in the region, with The Tithebarn high on the list of worthwhile causes.
The open day was an extreme success, as everyone enjoyed meeting up with a group of Masons and other supporters of the hospice. Those in need of care for themselves or those they care about, can find details of The Tithebarn, as well as the other homes operated by the RMBI Care Co by clicking here.
