What a fabulous night it was at the Marquis of Lorne Lodge No 1354 in the Leigh Group. The passing of Liam Matzke, now a fellow craft Freemason followed by an Olde English night combined, A great atmosphere with plenty of great prizes. This is a reciprocal event between Makerfield Lodge No 2155 and the Marquis of Lorne Lodge brethren.

Liam originally came to the Old English Night approximately one year ago, he was very impressed with the friendship and the great hospitality that was offered, he then joined after the summer break in October 2024. The last few months prior to his second degree have been very difficult for Liam as he had to juggle with his main job as a class 1 HGV driver and the Freemasons lodge.
However, due to the understanding and support of his fellow brethren, he was able to deal with those difficulties and eventually had the time to have a go at the second degree ceremony of becoming a fellow craft.
On the night, Liam was presented to the WM John Phillips, who asked Liam the usual questions. Liam gave a wonderful account in answering them in a very compelling manor that showed the work he had done prior to the ceremony.
The ceremony continued in fine style by the many active members in the lodge that ensured Liam had a special memory before he finally takes the next step and becomes a master Mason.
At the festive board, the Olde English Night went down a treat with lots of prizes and the usual banter with the catch up of old and new friends. The charity money collected was £250.
