The installation meeting of Lancashire Scouting Lodge of Allegiance No 6384 held at Darwin Masonic Hall was attended by many brethren from the Provinces of East and West Lancashire. The lodge meets four times a year and in June each year it meets in a hall in West Lancashire.
The principal guest at this year’s installation was Norman Cope, Assistant Provincial Grand Master – East Lancs, who was accompanied by many grand officers, including Derek Thornhill (Deputy Provincial Grand Master – East Lancs), John Richard Farrington (APrGM – East Lancs). Tony Harrison (Provincial Grand Master – West Lancs) who was a guest of Phil Gunning (Deputy Provincial Grand Master – West Lancs) who is a member of the lodge.
The master elect Richard Griffiths was installed by the outgoing WM Roger Flitcroft in what Tony said was a very enjoyable ceremony. Richard is the Deputy Commissioner for scouting in West Lancashire. He is also a member of Carnarvon Lodge No 2376 which meets in Leyland and he will be installed as the master of that lodge at the next installation meeting.
Tony had the great honour in his capacity as President of the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity of presenting a cheque for £10,000 from the charity on behalf of all the brethren of the Province West Lancashire to Derek for the East Lancashire Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution 2015 Festival.
The total donated to the festival as at 31 July 2015 was £2,369,971.26. The final total will be announced at the Festival Banquet, which will be held at the Macron Stadium on Thursday 29 October 2015.
