Walking explanation of the master Mason’s certificate

The meeting of St Luke’s Lodge No 6006 was billed as going to be a ‘very interesting evening’. This indeed proved to be the case. The WM Ian Gee having opened the lodge welcomed and offered Deputy Provincial Grand Master Howard Jones the gavel, which on this occasion he returned saying that he was very much looking forward to watching the evening’s proceedings.

Ian then introduced Chris Hamilton to the 12 members and 18 guests. Chris then called for a volunteer to act as a candidate for the explanation. Russell Skidmore stepped forward and played the part perfectly.

With a grand lodge certificate in hand, Chris proceeded to give an explanation of the symbolism depicted on the certificate to Russell and the brethren.

However, rather than point to the symbols and diagrams on the certificate, Chris took Russell to the each of the items in the lodge room and explained their history and significance in great detail. Many of the lodge members over the years had heard similar renditions but had not witnessed it in this very informative and enjoyable way. Ian thanked Chris for what was a fascinating and interesting lecture.

Once again, the festive board was of its usual high standard, which the brethren fully enjoyed. On the conclusion of the evening, Ian thanked everyone for coming and wished them a safe journey home.
