The Grand Superintendent was delighted to authorise an early ‘Field Promotion’ for companion Trevor Hugh Hampton, a member of Royal Preston Chapter No 333, who now resides in the Elsie Finney Nursing Home at Deepdale, Preston.
This delightful new, modern nursing home has been looking after Trevor for some time, during his recent illness, and does a splendid job caring for the needs of its residents.
A small group of companions, headed by the Deputy Grand Superintendent, Danny Jones, recently visited Trevor for the purpose of promoting him in Provincial rank. Danny had the pleasure of investing Trevor with the collar of a Past Provincial Grand Sword Bearer, a high rank well earned by Trevor through his work as Director of Ceremonies and latterly Scribe Ezra of his chapter. The investiture included extracts from the patent of appointment being read to Trevor by Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals, Ian Cuerden.
Trevor was quite overcome by the delegation that included the Preston group vice-chairman, Geoff Saul and chapter member, Vic Parker. Although unable to converse at length, Trevor certainly appreciated the consideration shown to him as one of Freemasonry’s devoted sons.
Trevor was always at the forefront of any work needed within the chapter, a chapter which is very close to his heart. He has been responsible for extracting, ‘in the kindliest way possible,’ large amounts of money from the members and visiting companions, all to the benefit of Masonic and other charities. This he achieved mainly through his organisation of numerous ‘Royal Preston Raffles.’
Whilst visiting Trevor, the companions were pleased to meet up with another resident in the home, Bro Rev Alan Hunt. He has been in care for some time but continues his ministry in the most heartwarming way by attending to Trevor’s needs by offering encouragement and support where he can, as he does to the other residents of the home.
