Brookfield Ladies Committee have yet another resounding success on their hands, this was their Lancashire night at Westhoughton that attracted a big audience with over 60 present for a really good old night out.
The Saggy Bottom Girls sang some traditional Lancashire songs and some of a more biological and hilarious nature. They were ably assisted by Sid Calderbank with his monologues, ditties and songs (interpreters required for non Lancastrians). Mark Dowding sang some rousing local songs.
A half time break was required for the poshest pie, mushy peas, red cabbage, onions and loads more. It is doubtful that those present had ever before had pie served with white gloves.
During the break Peter Hegarty performed the Westhoughton swindle and raised £350 for the Brookfield Ladies Benevolent Fund. After the break is was back for the second half of good traditional songs and side-splitting humour.
At the end of the evening Ann Wilson, chair of the ladies committee, thanked everyone for their support and said that all the proceeds from the night would be going to support the Westhoughton Masonic Hall.
It were a reet good do!!
