The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were served in Ormskirk Masonic Hall at the festive board of the Lodge of Chivalry No 3974. Sorry, I meant ‘hanging kebabs!’ Some of the lodge members had heard about the Hanging Kebabs that they had, had at their festive board and everybody was looking forward to trying them, they were certainly not disappointed!

Every meeting since the lodge’s installation has been an initiation, so with three entered apprentices it was decided that an explanation of the first degree tracing board would be given at the meeting by the immediate past master Martin Stewart.
Several visitors were in attendance at the meeting, including the WM Martin Young, IPM Richard Green and the secretary Andrew Fuller, who had all driven up from the Lodge of Chivalry No 5685 that meets in Southampton to attend the meeting, had not heard the explanation of the first degree tracing board and said they enjoyed it.
After the festive board, Martin Young responded to the visitors’ toast given by Mark Holloway. During his response, Martin Young said that Martin Stewart had given the explanation of the tracing board in an exemplary manner. He also said that the meal had been wonderful and the ‘hanging kebabs’ were excellent. He concluded by thanking the members of Lodge of Chivalry No 3974 for their very warm welcome, hospitality and friendship.
Martin Young then presented the WM of Lodge of Chivalry No 3974 Stuart Flynn, with a pair of cuff-links with the Lodge of Chivalry No 5685 logo on, and Stuart said they were looking forward to Southampton in May. Richard then stood up and presented Martin Stewart with a pair of cuff-links and Andrew Fuller then presented the secretary of Lodge of Chivalry No 3974 Mark Holloway with a pair too.

With a wonderful night having been had by everyone, it was up to the tyler to give the final toast of the evening, the tyler’s toast.
