Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Michael Radcliffe described the ceremony of installation at the Chapter of Perseverance No 155 as a “superb excise” in a “very distinguished chapter”.
Michael was the principal guest at the installation meeting in the Britannia Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool. He was welcomed into the chapter by installing principal Chris Marsden. Michael was accompanied by eight grand officers and Provincial Grand Steward Darren Brown.
During the ceremony extracts from the Bible were read by Peter Green and Bill Hinchliffe while prayers were read Peter Linfield.
Martin Brownlow was installed as first principal by Chris Marsden. Martin had also served the chapter as first principal in 2012. Dave Atkinson was installed as second principal with Vic Charlesworth occupying the third chair. Robe addresses were given by Ken Alker, Peter Green and John Price.
At the conclusion of the ceremony Michael said that he travels the country and what he had witnessed had been one of the best he had attended. It had been a “superb exercise” with everyone playing their part.
Two new members of the chapter were to receive their Supreme Grand Chapter Certificates. Brian Jackson gave an explanation of the certificate and Michael then presented them to Peter Linfield and Louis Warburton.
The chapter agreed to make three donations to charity, £200 each to Cancer Research UK and Zoe’s Place, Liverpool while there was £300 for the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity.
Michael said this was an “extraordinary” effort by a chapter whose members would no doubt have made contributions towards charitable causes in their lodges. He also said his visit to the chapter had got off to a tremendous start as he had accidentally been “promoted during the proceedings to Grand Rank”.
He then congratulated the new first principal who is to receive the rank of Past Provincial Grand Standard Bearer at the meeting of Provincial Grand Chapter. He also congratulated the chapter’s director of ceremonies for his excellent work and on the fact that he is to be promoted to the rank of Past Provincial Deputy Grand Sword Bearer, as is the chapter’s Scribe E, Bill Hinchliffe.
