Following a meeting between the Widnes Groups Charity Steward Bob Williams and Vicki Jones, Nightstop Accommodation Support Manager, it was agreed that the Widnes Group could make a real difference in the community by donating essential toiletries and non-perishable food stuff in support of the 28 male and 11 female homeless people that were being housed and helped by the charity.
In November; right in the midst of Storm Barra, a dedicated team of Widnes Masons led by the Group Vice Chairman John Gibbon and charity steward Bob Williams met at Widnes Masonic Hall to pack and load a van full of essential supplies; amongst which were individual toiletry gift bags specific to each male or female recipient which the charity will distribute on Christmas Day.
Manager Vicki Jones commented: “I really don’t know how to thank you; This donation will make a huge difference over Christmas and New Year; especially as many of our beneficiaries are on benefits and have no family or friends to spend it with; and who doesn’t enjoy the gift of toiletries especially at Christmas; we cannot wait to see their faces when we hand out your gifts.”
This Masonic Foodbank Appeal is a united effort by the Province of West Lancashire to help those needy and less fortunate in the run-up to Christmas with a dedicated drive to provide food, toiletries and other items directly to their local communities.
