At the installation meeting of St Michael’s Chapter, No 5756 held at Park Hall Hotel Charnock Richard; the chapter was honoured by the presence of John William Robson as the principal guest.
John was accompanied by Deputy Provincial Grand Master Philip Gunning (chapter member), Brian Fairhurst and Frank Umbers Ormskirk and Bootle Group Chairman. They were supported by acting officer Derek Midgley PrGStwd (chapter member).
The visitors were then treated to an exemplary installation ceremony with Brian Ball installing Stuart Cunningham as his successor as first principal of the chapter. Stuart was due to install his son Andrew into the second principal’s chair but due to work commitments Andrew was unable to attend, and this will take place at a later date. Neil Brown standing in for Andrew in turn installed Derek Midgley as third principal.
The two principals were presented for installation by the chapter DC David Rawcliffe. The scripture readings were presented by Martin Howell and Robert Midgley respectively with the associated prayers being delivered by the two principals. The scarlet and blue robe addresses were given by Derek Midgley and Brian Kay respectively; who made first-class presentations.
At the conclusion of the installation ceremony, John brought the greetings and congratulations of the Grand Superintendent, Tony Harrison, commenting that had he been present he would have witnessed an excellent ceremony. On Tony’s behalf he congratulated Stuart on attaining the first principal’s chair, wishing him well for his year in office. He went on to congratulate Brian Ball for his excellent work in installing his successor and in turn congratulated all those companions who had a part to play in the evening’s ceremony, in particular mentioning the DC David Rawcliffe and ADC Alan Burgess for their expert direction of the ceremony.
Brian, charity steward then presented John with two cheques; one to the value of £450 in support of the MCF 2021 Festival (£300 already given) and a cheque for £131 to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity via the yellow envelopes.
Frank Umbers then had the immense pleasure of reading the Vice Patron Certificate from the Province of West Lancashire 2021 Festival before presenting it to Stuart.
The proceedings in the chapter were brought to a close and everyone retired to the banqueting suite for an excellent festive board.
