Joseph Nash was installed as the new WM of St Michael’s Lodge No 5756 at Park Hall Hotel Charnock Richard. The lodge members were honoured by the presence of Assistant Provincial Grand Master Philip Gunning, the representative of the Provincial Grand Master.
Philip was accompanied by Ormskirk and District Group Chairman Frank Umbers, together with other grand lodge officers; Keith Walmsley, Brian Fairhurst and Arthur Cregeen, vice chairman Stephen Brereton and other group officers. Also in attendance were; acting Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies Barry Hewitt and acting Provincial Grand Stewards, Stewart Cranage and Brian Griffiths.
The installing master Gerald Barrett, who was ably assisted by the installation team, DC John Medcalf, Walter Davidson senior warden, Harold Marsh junior warden and Edward Hill inner guard, installed Joseph in an excellent ceremony.
The working tools were presented in a very competent and enjoyable manner by members of the lodge, John Medcalf third degree, Brian Turner second degree and Francis Aspinall first degree. The warrant and address to the master was exceptionally well presented by John. The address to the brethren was delivered by Philip in fine style which was very much appreciated by all present.
In bringing greetings from the Provincial Grand Master, Philip acknowledged the good work of the lodge members who took part in the ceremony and congratulated Joseph for taking the chair for the second time commenting that he had thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony. Joseph was master of this lodge in 2000.
Philip was then presented with cheques amounting to £1,015 on behalf of the lodge members. £500 to West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity, £200 to Heartbeat, £115 to Rosemere Cancer Foundation, £100 to Derian House and £100 to St Catherine’s Hospice, for which Philip gave grateful thanks on behalf of all those who would benefit from the kind generosity of the members.
Following the meeting an excellent festive board was enjoyed by all the brethren over in the hotel.
