Once again a fantastic summer’s day guaranteed a record breaking turnout. As always the opportunity was not missed by Southport Group Membership Officer Peter Martin, Tom Bradfield-Kay and Johnny (Southport) Roberts.

Skelmersdale Prize Brass Brand led the procession through the village and in to the main arena, to open the show, where a variety of events had been booked to perform to entertain the crowds, but before the gates were even opened to the public, the temperature was souring.

The brand new West Lancashire Freemasons membership trailer was in situ on the show ground and once the doors were open Peter, Tom and Johnny began to prepare for what they knew would be a very hot and busy day.

The stand was constantly visited with people intrigued to find out more about what Masons in the Southport area do. A number showed an interest and asked for more information about how they could join Freemasonry.

Usually a quiet period for most Freemasons during the summer recess Peter and his team will now actively follow up these enquiries and send out invitations to visit the Masonic Hall. This will include a tour of the hall with the opportunity to ask questions and gain more information on Freemasonry, along with what they could expect from becoming members of the world’s largest fraternity.

With temperatures reaching 25 degrees, well done to the team on the day, who were probably the only people at the show wearing jackets and ties. There is little doubt that the work of Southport’s Group Membership Officer, his team and the new West Lancashire Freemasons’ trailer is proving a great success and is already attracting many more potential candidates to help continue the growth of Freemasonry in Southport and the surrounding areas.
