Senior moment at Dalton

Frank Pearson is the senior member of Dalton in Furness Chapter No 6828 having served as first principal in 1990 and again in 2010. This year Frank achieved his hat-trick as he once again returned to the most important chair of the chapter. Joining him in the main offices were Own Osmotherley who went from third to second principal and Peter Dismore who took over as third principal.

Representing the Provincial Grand Superintendent was Alan Jones. Alan proved a most appropriate choice of representative as he had spent the 1985/86 season as master of his Craft lodge, as did Frank. They have been good friends ever since. Joining Alan at Dalton in Furness Masonic Hall was group chairman Peter Schofield along with three acting officers in the persons of Jim Richards, Mike Jenkins and David Ozanne.

Outgoing first principal Geoff Waters installed Frank in what was a much fore-shortened ceremony. Frank installed Owen in his own inimitable style whilst Owen in turn installed Peter. As well as the work of installation they also undertook the robe and sceptre addresses.

To mark the occasion a cheque for £360 was presented in respect of the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity and another for £200 donated to the Lupus UK charity.

Geoff took over as scribe of the chapter from Kieron Mullan who stood down from a post he has held with distinction for 17 years. In another change, long standing director of ceremonies Ken Parkinson retired and John Houlding took his place.

Following the ceremony 50 members and their guests made their way to Barrow in Furness Masonic Hall where they enjoyed a celebratory meal.

With two exaltations last year and two in the pipeline for the coming year it looks like Dalton in Furness Chapter has turned the corner and is moving in the right direction.
