Cleveleys Masonic Hall was the venue for the convocation meeting of Saturnian Chapter No 7563 and the chapter was honoured with the presence of the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison.
Also in attendance were Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals David Randerson, former Assistant Terry Hudson, Stuart Thornber, Harry Cox, Ron Weatherill, Geoffrey Pritchard, Brian Parkin, Norman Thomas, Roger Perry, David Harrison, and North Fylde Group Chairman Duncan Smith. In support were acting Provincial officers Neil MacSymons, James Miller, Ron Strangwick, Martin Dennison, Martin Linton and Gordon Ivett.
The chapter was opened for business by acting first principal Ken Smith, second principal Damian Davenport and third principal Peter Bracegirdle. The three principals elect were then presented in turn by director of ceremonies Peter Lonican to mark the start of the installation proceedings, with Damian Davenport being installed as first principal, Derek Broadbent as second principal and Steve Willingham as third principal. The installing officers were Brian Parkin, Ken Smith and Ron Weatherill.
Ian Chetwynd delivered the crimson robe address, Roger Stansfield delivered the purple robe address and Norman Thomas delivered the blue robe address. The officers of the chapter were invested, accompanied by humorous musical renditions from guest organist Shaun Haynes.
The addresses to the three principals and the companions were expertly delivered by Peter Lonican and David Randerson respectively.
At the conclusion of the installation ceremony, Tony Harrison brought his personal congratulations as Grand Superintendent, wishing the three principals well during their coming year in office. He congratulated all who had taken part in the ceremony and the new first principal presented him with cheques for the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity totalling £359.40.
At the festive board which followed, which was enjoyed by 44 companions, David Randerson delivered a humorous response to toast number three and proposed the toast to the health of the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent. Tony responded with the warmth and poise the companions have come to expect, thanking the chapter for a wonderful evening. He also made particular mention of the Tercentenary events, Provincial Grand Lodge in May, and the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival. Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah James Miller responded on behalf of the Provincial officers present. A raffle for charities raised £194.
The toast to the health of the three principals was given by Ken Smith, after which the song to the three principals was rendered by Hugh Mett, accompanied by Shaun Haynes.
At the conclusion of a most enjoyable evening the janitor’s toast was delivered by Gordon Ivett.
