As we approach the end of the 2015/16 season in Freemasonry and in our particular case in the Royal Arch.
I was delighted to see so many companions at Provincial Grand Chapter and an equally packed dining room. I believe the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre is a great venue for all, and I thank you for your support of the 129 companions who received their first appointment or promotion in Provincial grand rank. I sincerely hope you all enjoyed the day.
As you are all aware there are three long serving senior officers who retired from office: Peter Elmore, Stanley Oldfield and Ian Higham. I would again like to thank them for their wonderful service to the Province. In particular I wish Peter a swift recovery to his full health and Stanley a happy retirement
I would also like to congratulate the companions who are following in their footsteps: Paul Renton Second Provincial Grand Principal, Ian Higham Third Provincial Grand Principal, Tony Hall Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals and Paul Hesketh as Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, all of whom were appointed and invested into their new offices by the Grand Superintendent, Tony Harrison at Provincial Grand Chapter.
Tony reiterated my delight at the number of demonstrations of the ‘Enhanced Exaltation Ceremony’ which have proved very popular across many chapters with many now taking on board the suggestions to add more theatre to the exaltation ceremony to the benefit of new candidates and indeed to those who are already Royal Arch Masons.
Tony also said he was delighted by the response the playlet ‘Talking Heads’ has had around the Province, and I would like to place on record my thanks to the many lodges who volunteered to host it. My thanks must also go to all the Assistants to the Provincial Grand Principals who have worked tirelessly and successfully in promoting both the ‘Enhanced Exaltation’ and ‘Talking Heads’. I really do believe that these endeavours have made a positive impact in Royal Arch recruitment.
Another success has been the Royal Arch Team visits the Grand Superintendent included in his busy schedule. My thanks go to the chapters that hosted these: Lancaster Castle Chapter No 5982 and Friendship Chapter No 241. The companions who attended the meetings witnessed the wonderful pageantry of a Provincial occasion.
The Provincial Grand Stewards Chapter demonstration team delivered two demonstrations of the ‘Passing of the Veils Ceremony’ which have been expertly delivered and the ritual was to a very high standard and I do commend them for their work. They have assured me that they intend to continue with the Veils and other demonstrations next season.
I intend to continue with the Royal Arch initiatives through next Masonic season. Finally Companions I hope you enjoy your summer recess and return from your holidays fully refreshed and ready once again to enjoy your Royal Arch Masonry.
Deputy Grand Superintendent
