Derby Lodge No 724, which meets at Woolton Golf Club, held a Ladies to Dine evening and prior to the start of the banquet the worshipful master David Spears congratulated two brethren of the lodge who had received honours at the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting in Blackpool. They were Barry Mault who received the rank of PPrAGSuptWks, whilst Roby Hayden was honoured with the rank of PPrAGStdB.
Roby Hayden is, and has been for many years, a lodge steward and is keen to take any office that needs to be filled and has very often filled other positions such as a deacon whenever the need arises. His hobby/interest is of vintage motorcycles and for many years he has followed his interest by holidaying in the Isle of Man.
Barry Mault is also a lodge steward and similarly helps out in other offices as required. As an example he was the senior warden at the rehearsal night early in May. His hobby/interest, when not shift working in the motor industry is art, which he follows and improves by attending night school classes.
A Ladies to Dine is an event that is arranged when a past master is installed into the WM’s chair, instead of a Ladies Evening when it is a new master being installed.
During the sumptuous meal, that was expertly prepared by the catering staff at Woolton Golf Club, a raffle was held for the benefit of the Benevolent Fund and raised the magnificent sum of £280 from the generosity of the brethren and guests.
