Prescot Lodge No 5470 celebrated their 2023 installation at Prescot Masonic Hall in the presence of the principal guest AProvGM Andy Whittle, who was the representative to the Provincial Grand Master Mark Matthews.

Andy was accompanied by Mersey Valley Group Chairman John Murphy, group deputy chairman Dave Atkinson, group vice chairman John Gibbon and Provincial Junior Grand Deacon Fred Dickinson.
The lodge was opened in fine form by the outgoing master Leo Kap, who then handed over to John Whalley to facilitate the installation of George Moffatt. The ceremony was performed in a faultless manner to the acclaim of all present, with the new WM being put into the chair in fine form.
Looking extremely comfortable in the chair of King Solomon, George undertook the rest of the ceremony without a hitch and with a big satisfied smile present on his face.
During the ceremony the working tools were presented with aplomb by the following brethren: Third degree tools by Vic Sheedy, second degree tools by Paul Meadow and the first degree tools by John Whalley. The address to the master was delivered by George Flinn, the address to the wardens by George Moffatt and the address to the brethren of the lodge by Andy Whittle.
All in all, it was a most enjoyable installation which was managed in his own unique style by the DC Bob Bridge, ably assisted by Vic Sheedy.
The charity plate in the lodge raised just over £70 and the raffle at the festive board some £200 for Masonic and non-Masonic charities.
It was a lively and entertaining festive board that followed the installation meeting, with excellent catering provided by Peter Barker and his team.
