Peter Tooze-Froggatt was proclaimed master of Runic Lodge No 6019 in November in the presence of David Edwards who was representing the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison. David was accompanied by Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master Philip Gardner, Past Provincial Assistant Grand Pursuivant Joe Crabtree, Past Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies Ken Needham; Lancaster and District Group Chairman Neil McGill, vice chairman Scott Devine and the group secretary Chris Larder.
Due to coronavirus, all lodge officers remained unchanged. Peter was only in the chair for five months prior to the implementation of the government’s COVID-19 lockdown restrictions and is looking forward to a full year in office. Peter works at Lancaster University in the Computer Science and Engineering faculty. He is married with two children.
The third degree working tools were presented by Ken Needham; those of the second degree by Alan Dean and those of the first degree by Alan Gregory. The address to brethren of the lodge was delivered by David Edwards.
On rising at the end of the ceremony, David Edwards commented that he had been present in his capacity as the Provincial Senior Grand Warden when Peter was installed in the chair of King Solomon in 2019. David thanked the lodge members for their charitable donation of £601.90 and congratulated those involved in the ceremony, particularly the brethren who presented the working tools and the acting director of ceremonies David Tattersall.
The organist in the temple was John Cherry and at the festive board David Tattersall. The master’s song was performed by George Fox. The raffle raised £305 and, at the end of the evening, the brethren were entertained by the Runic ‘choir’ singing the visitor’s song.
