Almost 40 brethren gathered at Fleetwood Masonic Hall to witness Peter Draper being installed into the chair of Pharos Lodge No 7421. The lodge was honoured to receive Assistant Provincial Grand Master Derek Parkinson as the principal guest.
With the regular lodge business swiftly dispatched by the acting master Dennis Smith, he proceeded to invite Andy Curtis to act as installing senior warden, Ken Holden to act as installing junior warden and Steve Hagan to act as installing inner guard.
The master elect was ably and sincerely installed by Dennis, assisted by assistant director of ceremonies Greg Grove. The working tools of the three degrees were particularly well presented by Ian Glass, Mike Brayshaw and Paul Whiteside.
Greg delivered a heartfelt address to Peter, which was followed by addresses to the deacons by Dennis Smith, to the stewards by Jason Dell, to the wardens by Jeff Smith and to the brethren of the lodge by Derek Parkinson.
At the conclusion of the installation, Derek congratulated Dennis on the manner in which he had installed Peter and expressed his wish for the master to have a happy and healthy year in office. On behalf of the lodge, Peter presented Derek with a cheque for £200 to the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival and a cheque for £200 to St David’s and St Peter’s Church.
The brethren then enjoyed a superb festive board at which a raffle raised £254 for charities. The toast to the newly-made master was given by Greg Grove and the master’s song was rendered by John Darrell. At the conclusion of a splendid evening the tyler’s toast was given by Ian Glass.
