The Ormskirk and Bootle Group Widows’ Luncheon took place early in November 2022 at Litherland Masonic Hall. This event was funded entirely by the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity under the terms of the broken column initiative.

The function gave 60 widows, helpers and almoners the opportunity to meet with each other, have a drink, a good catch up, and a very pleasant lunch. Entertainment was provided by Bill of Happy Days who provided everyone with two sets, firstly a sing along which tied in with the remembrance period and after a free raffle and a few words from the group chairman Graham Chambers and group pastoral care officer John Thompson, Bill followed with a set for dancing.
Many of the ladies were presented with the Broken Column Brooch. This brooch was created in the hope that it would be worn by the widow of a Mason on all appropriate occasions, especially when traveling, so that she may be recognized, greeted and assisted, when necessary, by Masonic friends throughout the world.
With the afternoon drawing to a close a good time was had by all.
