The installation meeting of Gilbert Greenall Chapter No 1250 to install Norman Pritchard into the first principal’s chair was well attended by over 40 members and guests. The chapter was opened in the traditional style by John McIntyre the installing first principal and the usual administration was undertaken.
Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Barry Jameson was the principal guest and was admitted in true ceremonial style, accompanied by Provincial grand officers including Andy Barton (group vice-chairman) and Darren Brown.
John welcomed Barry and all of the Provincial grand officers present, saying he was delighted and honoured to receive distinguished guests and hoped they all would have a most enjoyable evening. Barry thanked John and all the companions for their warm welcome.
Norman was then installed as first principal of the chapter, by the retiring first principal John McIntyre (group secretary). John Knowles was installed as second principal and John Walkey was installed as third principal in true traditional form. The robe address to the first principal was given by John McIntyre, the robe address to the second principal by Alan Clare and the robe to the third principal by John Knowles.
Following an exemplary ceremony, it gave Barry great pleasure on behalf of the Provincial Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison, to congratulate the three principals on being installed in the chairs of the chapter and he wished them good health and happiness for an enjoyable year in office.
Barry went on to congratulate John as installing first principal and Keith Young as director of ceremonies. He made special mention of the presentations of the robe addresses by John McIntyre, Alan Clare and John Knowles. Norman presented Barry with two cheques, which were donations to West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity for £400 and Warrington Masonic Hall Lift Fund for £200.
Barry thanked Norman for the most generous donations, saying it was a credit to all the members who had generated such a magnificent amount for charity. He stated it would give him great pleasure in forwarding the donations to the beneficiaries and thanked everyone on their behalf.
Following the ceremony everyone enjoyed an excellent four course festive board provided by the Warrington Masonic Hall catering staff. A raffle was held at the festive board which generated a magnificent sum of £140 for charity.
